Close to the northern city of Arusha
is the majestic snow-capped and pink-haloed Mount
Kilimanjaro, the Shinning Mountain. Not only the
highest mountain in Africa this extra ordinary
mountain is also the highest freestanding peak
in the world and is topped by one fifth of all
the ice in Africa. To climb the mountain lies
within the range of anyone who is reasonably fit
and ascent is make by trekking rather than by
climbing.
Day one:
Arrive at Kilimanjaro international airport, transfer
to a amid class hotel in Moshi/Arusha
Day two:
After breakfast, drive from your hotel to Marangu
gate, we will spend about two hours for registration,
payments of fees and final parking. Start climbing
through dense semi-tropical to the first hut –
Mandara hut[9,000ft]. dinner and overnight stay
at Mandar hut.
Day three:
After breakfast, ascend through the alphine meadow
and grassland and moorland to Horombo Hut[12,000ft].
both Mawenzi and Kibo peaks can be viewed easily
on the way. Dinner and overnight at Horombo hut
Day four:
Breakfast, further ascending to Kibo Hut [15,000ft].
The landscape becomes very stony and eroded. Spectacular
lobelia appears on the way. Dinner and overnight
stay at Kibo hut.
Day Five:
Wake up at midnight, and after a snack, proceed
to the summit through Gilman’s point [18,640ft].
it is about 5-6hours and 1-2hours from Kibo to
Gilman’s point and from Gilman’s point
to Uhuru Peak [19,340ft] respectively. Thus reaching
the peak in the early morning of the fifth day
and start descending after picture taking on the
top to Horombo hut for dinner and overnight.
Day six:
Breakfast, descend from Horombo hut to Marangu
gate. The waiting car will take you back to yor
hotel in Moshi/Arusha
Day seven:
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your
international flight or to Namanga for your shuttle
bus back to Nairobi
